It’s a good thing that our world is filled with remarkable colors. From oceans to mountaintops to cities, we can find colors that inspire, engage, and inform us in our daily lives. The Pantone Color Institute has announced “Living Coral” as the “Color of the Year” for 2019. Warm, playful, and nourishing, living coral encourages lighthearted expression and soothing comfort in today’s changing digital environment. Living coral is an ideal color for social activity. And that makes art with this color a great conversation piece!
Here are five pieces at Seaside Art Gallery that we love with this new Color of the Year.
1. Coral Canyon by Travis Humphreys
Did you know that this stunning acrylic painted canyon is also miniature art? Measuring at 5 x 7 inches with the frame, you can also fit its grand stature into small spaces! The frame is made by the same artist.
2. Goldenhead V by Cathy Yrizarry
Check out the coral tones in this stunning impressionistic oil painting! They stand out very well from the rich ocean blue background. A great wall accent for both home and office.
If you’re in the market for coral jewelry, you can get a head start on the trend with this beautiful polished coral 14 karat gold ring with rope trim design. Its oval cut style is perfect for a 6 1/2 ring size!
4. Scarlet Sunrise by Lori Goll
Who doesn’t love watching an Outer Banks sunrise? Its soft warm glow is an awesome example of living coral’s natural admiration. And the best part is, you can sleep in and still catch the sunrise with this gorgeous pastel drawing in your home!
5. Caribbean by Chester Martin
While many Caribbean subjects in art focus on the area’s natural beauty, Chester Martin featured the beauty of people in his 4 1/2-inch diameter clay sculpture. The coral clay tones suggest the color of human flesh, which fits the life-affirming theme that living coral represents.
